Getting the best out of Streamlight

SDR screens and displays

If your screen is limited to standard dynamic range (SDR), you can maximise Streamlight’s effect by increasing the size of the light to 100%, with the other apps you need minimised as much as possible and sitting in front of it. Use the backlight slider to increase its power to 100%, and if possible, raise your screen closer to eye level to help eliminate unwanted shadows.

HDR screens and displays

Streamlight can be used with any screen, but it excels on hardware with high dynamic range (HDR) capabilities. To optimise its effect, choose a colour temperature that matches or complements the light in the space around you, expand your Streamlight size to at least 35%, and brighten your backlight to at least 80%. To eliminate unwanted shadows, raise your laptop or monitor as close as possible to eye level.

Taking Streamlight further

Streamlight is effective as a primary light source across a range of environments, but you can achieve an even more professional look by using it with another light. It’s easier if you have a two-screen setup: with your game, video or other app on the screen in front of you, switch on Streamlight on the screen beside it. Adjust its power until you’re well lit, and then add a second light at slightly lower output to the opposite side of your desk. You now have a key and fill light combination using just your screen and one dedicated light.
