10 features

  • Camo Studio now works with all cameras! You can now use Camo Studio with any camera you can connect to your Mac, including built-in cameras, webcams, DSLRs or mirrorless cameras, action cams, and iPhones connected with Continuity Camera.
  • Portrait mode has been overhauled on iOS and is also now available for all cameras. It can also now be used in combination with AR modes.
  • Spotlight mode ensures you stand out in your shot, brightening you up against the background.
  • Privacy blur lets you hide what’s in shot behind you, removing the need for jarring video-conferencing background removal.
  • Replace mode enables you to substitute your background scene with a replacement backdrop or a virtual greenscreen.
  • Dynamic face tracking with auto framing, with and without zoom. This is powered by a new physics engine, bringing face tracking which is smooth and cinematic, without the jerkiness or dizzying movements that other face tracking solutions introduce.
  • We've added native LUT support to Camo. These are cinematic filters which enable film-like treatments to your video. We've included a pack of 18 thoughtfully created presets.
  • To ensure it’s always providing perfectly smooth video Camo Studio now detects any situations where your camera fails to deliver at the requested frame rate, and will show a warning with suggestions on how to fix things.
  • We've added a beautiful new vignette overlay to the pack of built in overlays.
  • Centre stage controls, Camo Studio can now be used to toggle Centre Stage on the Studio Display, iPhones using Continuity Camera, and supported iPads.

3 improvements

  • We've overhauled our macOS Shortcuts support, making it easier to control Camo Studio with Shortcuts and also added Shortcut controls for overlays as well as for all the new features in this release.
  • We've re-worked our menu bar icon, to make it easier to tell if Camo's video is being used or if there is anything which needs your attention.
  • We've made significant improvements to Camo's performance when using overlays on iPhone.

If you run into any problems, please reach out to us at support@reincubate.com. We'd love to help and hear from you.

See all 10 changes

4 features

  • We've added Smart Zoom, which lets you take advantage of your iPhone's 4K sensors regardless of which resolution you're using. Camo now avoids using digital zoom wherever possible, and instead rely on a higher resolution source image from the camera’s sensor, mimicking lossless optical zoom. Smart Zoom can be enabled in Camo Studio’s Preferences dialog, under the General tab.
  • Virtual rotation gives you the ability to choose between landscape and portrait video without having to physically rotate your phone. This makes use of the "Smart Zoom" feature to ensure the video is perfectly crisp.
  • Camo's new image stabilisation functionality minimises the effect of vibrations and other disturbances on the image, great for desk mounted devices, wobbly mounts, or heavy-handed typists.
  • We've added a vibrancy control, which gives you a way to boost or dampen duller colours in a way that’s less heavy-handed and artificial than using the saturation control.

2 improvements

  • The brightness control has now been completely re-worked to give you finer grained control and make you look less washed out when increasing brightness.
  • It's now easier to remove the current overlay -- you can now disable an overlay simply by clicking on it.

3 fixes

  • We've fixed a bug which meant that Camo Studio would sometimes prevent your Mac from sleeping.
  • We've fixed a bug which caused issues with Camo Studio’s audio output when your phone isn't connected.
  • We've fixed a bug which meant that Camo Studio could occasionally think a licence had expired shortly before it was due to renew.
  • **Feature*: Frame-rate controls have long been one of our most popular feature requests, and now they’re here! Camo now lets users choose from a range of frame-rates between 15 and 60 fps, making it easy for streamers to match their camera frame rate with the stream.

See all 6 changes

1 feature

  • We’ve added an Audio Settings section to the left-hand side of Camo Studio. When using Camo Studio’s audio in your video app you can now choose to use audio from any microphone connected to your Mac, not just the audio from your phone. This means you can use Camo Studio to control your microphones and it’s now easier to choose the audio when making a local recording.

2 improvements

  • Previously when making a local recording using a mono microphone there would only be audio in the left channel. You can now use the Advanced tab in Preferences to enable mono audio recording so that audio will be recorded in both channels.
  • We’ve added an audio delay setting to Camo Studio to fix rare issues where audio and video are not in sync. This can be enabled using the Advanced tab in Preferences.

3 fixes

  • We’ve fixed an issue which caused issues when changing an image in an overlay.
  • Ever spotted an item in Camo Studio’s menu called “Connection Suggestions” and wondered what it meant? Well, you’re not the only one, this has now been renamed to “Notifications”.

macOS

Camo Studio 1.6.4.7298 released

We’re thrilled to launch a long-awaited feature in Camo: full compatibility with Safari, FaceTime, QuickTime, and more. This update also enables all third-party apps that previously relied on Camo’s integrations to work natively. Discord, Slack, WhatsApp, and others now run great with Camo without modification.

This new compatibility requires functionality we’ve built on top of macOS 12.3. For users on older versions of macOS, the pre-existing integration system remains in place. You can read more about this update on our blog.
