Today's update brings Camo's high quality audio support to Camo Studio for Windows, and also makes it easier to use the open beta of Camo on Android which we launched last week. If you'd like to try Camo on Android then click here to install it!

  • Camo Studio now supports audio from iOS devices, and lets you can choose between the different microphones on your devices. (Audio is not yet available for Android devices, we're working on it and it will be added to the Android beta soon.)

  • It's now easier to use Camo Studio with the Android Camo beta. If you're on the Android beta you'll no longer need to activate Camo Studio in order to use all our pro features.

  • This release also includes an experimental fix for a rare issue which was causing other video applications to crash when streaming video from Camo Studio.

  • We've overhauled how Camo Studio handles video from the phone in order to significantly improve Camo Studio's performance. This means that if you have a graphics card Camo Studio will now make better use of it, and we've also fixed a bug which meant that a Camo Studio ran slowly for some users with powerful computers.
  • If Camo Studio does briefly get behind processing video it should now catch up again within seconds.
  • Whenever Camo Studio shows a popup window the text in the window should now be available to screen reading software.
  • To communicate with Apple devices Camo Studio relies on a service provided by Apple, Camo is now able to start that service if it is not running.
  • We've simplified what Camo Studio adds to the start menu.
  • We've added an option in the "Advanced" menu to let you select Camo Studio's log level.

  • We've fixed a bug which meant that video from Camo Studio would appear upside down in OBS Studio.
  • We've made a couple of changes to the DirectShow filter Camo Studio uses to communicate with video apps to ensure Studio supports as many apps as possible. (This involves giving the filter a `DevicePath` and properly implementing the `GetPages` method.)
  • We've fixed a bug which led to video being played in fast-forward after Camo Studio's video was paused by another app.
  • We've fixed a crash which happened when Camo Studio had difficulty downloading the service it needs to communicate with Apple devices.
  • We've fixed a minor UI bug which led to a couple of buttons in Camo Studio being the wrong colour.
  • We've fixed a rare crash which happened when Camo Studio attempted to communicate with video apps.

3 Funktionen

  • Camo Studio now supports macOS 12 Shortcuts! We've added Shortcuts for getting and setting the current device, lens, resolution, mode, brightness, and all the other effects and adjustments offered by Camo. Let us know what you think, we're really excited to see what you'll come up with!
  • Added support for connecting to Android devices. To connect to an Android device you'll need version `0.9.2` of Camo for Android, which we'll be releasing in the next few days. If you've not been added to the beta yet, don't worry, sign ups are still open!
  • We've completed work on VoiceOver support, every part of Camo Studio should now be fully accessible with Apple's VoiceOver screen reader. We're always keen to make Camo Studio as accessible as possible, please let us know if you have any feedback and if there's any way Studio's accessibility can be improved.

5 Verbesserungen

  • If we detect any potential problems with Camo Studio such as your phone being connected via a USB hub we'll now show you a warning and guide you in fixing it.
  • We've tweaked Camo Studio's installation process to give you the option of deferring installation of our audio plugin to prevent interrupting your audio.
  • Camo Studio now detects when it's uninstalled, and can automatically remove its own plugin.
  • After updating to a new version of Camo Studio we'll now let you know if you need to restart any video apps to complete the installation.
  • We've made it easier to ensure you're running the right version of our audio and video plugins after updating Camo Studio.

  • Added our friends at Clipchamp to our list of supported apps.
  • We've fixed a bug which meant you had to enter your password twice when updating Camo Studio.
  • We've fixed a problem with installing Camo Studio on macOS 12 beta 3. We're aware of some issues remaining with uninstalling Camo Studio on macOS 12 beta 3, and we're optimistic that they'll be fixed in beta 4.
  • We've fixed a couple of rare crashes which a couple of our users saw when updating or opening Camo Studio.
  • Fixed a minor UI bug in the toolbar on macOS High Sierra.

  • From today's release, both Camo and Camo Studio share a new icon, designed by our incredibly talented friend, Gavin Nelson. We hope you love it!
  • We now change Camo's status bar icon in order to show whether the video from Camo is currently being used in a video app.
  • Portrait mode can now be added to your custom presets.
  • Always stay on top. Camo Studio now sports an option to ensure its window remains on top of your desktop.
  • Window transparency. You can now put make Studio partially transparent, making it more powerful when reading to camera with speaking notes behind the main window.

  • We made some changes to the menus to ensure that all of Camo's features are always at your fingertips. This includes adding camera and video controls to the advanced menu.
  • Added support for many more video apps.

  • We've fixed an issue with audio recording on M1 Macs.
  • Fixed a crash when opening links from the help window.
  • Fixed an issue which was preventing the trackpad from being used to zoom, and made general improvements to zoom and panning.

  • Fixed a rare crash for users with particularly unusual machines!

(This update brings significant changes to how we communicate with Android devices, you'll need to update Camo Android to version `0.9.0` to continue testing.)

  • Added the option in the "Advanced" menu to disable hardware video decoding.

3 Funktionen

  • We now support 11 languages! We're excited to have translations for speakers of Chinese, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish.
  • Introduced in Camo 1.3, we now turn off your device's screen automatically when it is mounted to conserve power. In Camo Studio, you can now adjust this in Advanced settings.
  • You can now export the current video frame displayed in Camo! Look in the File menu.

  • We've completely redesigned the screens shown in video apps when your device wasn't connected.
  • We have added more apps to our Integrations section, including Tuple and Facebook Workplace. We've also updated the information for existing apps, such as Webex (which we now support!)
  • We've changed how Camo Studio behaves when you accidentally launch another version, to avoid interruptions to your video.
  • We have been working hard on performance improvements and building out the foundation for some of our most requested features!
  • We've done a minor reorganisation of some of our controls for consistency across the app.
  • Camo Studio should now use even less resources when not in use.

  • We've resolved an issue where clicking on the image to focus could fail.
  • Camo Studio could crash if another app had already reserved its hotkey. We now handle that better.
  • We've resolved an issue where the window title could display incorrectly.
  • For some users, Camo Studio might have been shy and hid behind other windows. It will now come to the front, like other apps!
  • We've made some changes to better support the upcoming macOS 11.3 update.
  • We've fixed an issue where some sliders with manual entry might have rudely given up on you while you were typing.

  • There was a minor UI issue for users running a very old version of Camo on their iPhone. We've fixed that.
